D E T A I L S

The location of your session is entirely up to you, although I can offer suggestions. I really pride myself in my portraits that are captured by natural light photography and therefore need a brightly sunlit room and or outdoor settings where open shade is ideal. Sessions will range on average from 30 to 45 minutes in most cases but please understand that it often takes time for a child to feel comfortable and relaxed. All photographs are shot in digital color but may be presented in black and white, Mocha & sepia toning as well. If a more artistic flare is what you desire I can accommodate with Eye Popping Deeply Saturated Colors or if it is a soft vintage tone you desire through my creative talents that too I can provide for you and your cherished memories.

What to wear

The key to a timeless portrait is K.I.S.S. “Keep it Simple Silly”. Dress in something comfortable and casual and choosing to stick with the basics Vs. trends will create timeless portraits. Solid colors in muted tones look best, especially in black and white images. Textures such as denim knit, and khaki also work well. Avoid choosing busy patterns and print, as they will distract from your portrait. Solid clothes help to keep the focus on the face and not the clothing. My favorites: denim, khaki, overalls, sundresses, bare feet, and naked babies! Bare feet give a natural and casual feel and often look best. You are welcome to bring a change of clothing and if time allows you can feel free to change. A few other suggestions are rich deep velvet reds and if it is bright colors you desire go with a pattern of bright multi colors for best results. Some costumes & props are available too such as Tutu’s and Fairy Wings.

Viewing and Ordering the portraits

Your portraits will be available for viewing within 7 to 10 days following your session (but in most cases within 48 hours). Rush services are available for a slight additional charge. You may choose to view them online or we can meet to review the proofs together. Prints are available for pick up in about 7-10 business days from date of order. Or Rush Delivery is available for an additional $15 allowing prints to be available to you within 2-3 business based on nature of prints ordered & orders placed and confirmed by noon CST. Files are kept for 2 months allowing you to place additional orders if you chose.

Looking to Photograph a Newborn?

The typical newborn session should take palce within 10 days of birth. So I am only half kidding around with you when I say, "I will meet you home from the hospital". In all seriousness the younger, the better! I can even arrange for a session at the hospital if you prefer. The reason I prefer fresh newborns because they are less likely to be disturbed while sleeping, they are much easier to pose and less likely to have newborn acne which usually flares up around 3 weeks of age Newborn sessions will inmost cases take place in your home and can include parents. You don't have to worry about hair and make up Mommy I can focus on the neck down. I will like for you or dad to please have ready a black shirt and pants if at all possible for you photo shoot to insure the best quality Black Background Newborn Pictures. One more reason to get those pic's early is so you can take advantage of my full service Baby Announcements...I will even do the mailing labels seal and mail them out for you if you desire.
